The keris is an intangible cultural heritage whose preservation relies heavily on the knowledge transmission system within the pande family. Amid rapid modernization in Denpasar, Prapen Tapa Karya has successfully preserved and evolved the keris forging tradition across four generations. This study aims to analyze the didactic transmission system of keris forging across generations at Prapen Tapa Karya and its adaptation to contemporary changes. Employing a qualitative approach with an ethnographic method, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings reveal an evolving trajectory from the first generation (focusing on utilitarian functions), the second and third generations (integrating aesthetics and material experimentation), to the fourth generation (adopting a collaborative, explorative, and scientific approach). The didactic transmission system is structured into three distinct stages: Satya (foundational skills and discipline), Madya (crafting ritual implements and cultivating spiritual awareness), and Utama (achieving peak technical and spiritual mastery in keris making). In conclusion, the didactic transmission at Prapen Tapa Karya represents an ethnopedagogical model rooted in habitus, seamlessly blending technical proficiency, character building, and spiritual practice to ensure the sustainability of Balinese keris heritage.
