Search and rescue (SAR) operations in the Mentawai Islands region demand optimal personnel readiness due to the area's archipelagic geography, dynamic weather conditions, and the high-risk nature of the operations. This study aims to analyze the implementation of physical conditioning, the level of personnel readiness, and the relationship between physical conditioning and the readiness of Mentawai Search and Rescue Office personnel for SAR operations. A quantitative approach using explanatory research was employed. All personnel served as respondents through a total sampling technique. Data were collected via Likert-scale questionnaires and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Spearman correlation test, and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The results indicate that all research instruments were valid and reliable, with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.801. The Spearman correlation test revealed a significant positive relationship between physical conditioning and personnel readiness (r = 0.569; p < 0.001), categorized as a moderate relationship. EFA results showed the data were suitable for analysis (KMO = 0.533; Bartlett's Test p < 0.001) and identified 13 factors that cumulatively explained 70.163% of the data variance. These factors include physical conditioning intensity, rest patterns, lifestyle habits, hydration patterns, daily dietary habits, beverage consumption, nutritional awareness, supplement consumption habits, core muscle strength, speed, balance and leg strength, agility, and body endurance and strength. These findings demonstrate that physical conditioning is a factor associated with SAR personnel readiness; therefore, it must be implemented in a planned, structured, and sustainable manner to support the effectiveness of search and rescue operations.
