This study is motivated by the importance of strengthening character education through parenting practices grounded in Islamic values, particularly in addressing the various challenges of parenting today. This study aims to analyze the values of Islamic parenting in the story of the family of Imran in Surah Al Imran, verses 33–37, and to examine their relevance to children’s character development. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review and a thematic (maudhu’i) exegesis. M. Quraish Shihab’s Tafsir Al Misbah serves as the primary source, while Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir is used as a comparative source to reinforce the interpretation. The results of the study revealed four interrelated core values: the foundation of a righteous family; parental commitment and prayer beginning during pregnancy; accepting children as a trust from Allah; and guidance through exemplary behavior and a supportive environment. These four values indicate that the formation of a child’s character from the Qur’anic perspective is a continuous process, beginning before birth and continuing throughout the child’s growth and development. These findings suggest that the parenting values in the story of the family of Imran can serve as a basis for reflection on child-rearing in the present day.
