https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/cetta/article/view/3880
<p>One of the fields of expertise that have rapidly advanced in the process of creating economic and financial decisions and regulations locally, nationally, and globally is accounting. This field necessitates not only high accounting knowledge and skills but also communication skills in english, which still holds a status of the world’s lingua franca. Hence, the need for an english for occupational purposes, particularly the English for accountants. This study attempts to investigate the needs of the accounting students as well as professionals and propose a syllabus to meet the needs. To realize the former, job-reporting and interview to two professional accountants were administered, as well as survey to fifty accounting students. To realize the later, the needs analysis results were analyzed and priorities were made. The needs analysis demonstrates that learning speaking skills and listening skills in the context of accounting should be prioritized over the reading and writing skills. More emphasis should also be given to the formal style of communication as well as exposures to actual accounting-related terminologies. All of which has become the basis for proposing a syllabus design that integrates theme, task, and genre under the principles of Content-Based Instruction that centers on the teaching the subject content through language. Therefore, the syllabus should be prepared not only by the English instructor but also the accounting instructor. Such a syllabus is expected to provide a learning experience that mirrors the actual demand and context of a professional accountant, including the actual and contextual english language usage.</p>Rintya Yuniastari, Anna Marietta da Silva

https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/cetta/article/view/3367
<p><em>The focus of this article's discussion is on national-oriented history learning based on the 2010 AFF football history events. The aim of this research is to examine the historical events of Indonesian Football at the 2010 AFF as a reflection in national-oriented history learning. The method used in this research is the historical research method which consists of four stages, including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The sources used in this research are primary sources which include newspaper archives and video replays of the 2010 AFF matches. Apart from that, secondary sources are also used which consist of books, journals and previous research that are relevant to the themes and problems studied. . The results of this research are about how students respond to a historical event as a form of learning that must be examined critically and able to be reflected in real life. This study can be used as material for reflection to take better steps in the future. Like the AFF event in 2010, it can be used as a source of motivation for Indonesian football to be better, not the opposite. Because this is a point where initially success is not permanent but can experience change. One of the reasons is because there was an error at the end. If this is not addressed well, it will potentially cause disappointment. Of course, this phenomenon can be an important lesson, namely understanding that initial assessments do not always have a big and dynamic influence. By seeing or reflecting on this event, students are expected to be able to respond to national feelings wisely, one of which is through learning history with a national perspective.</em></p>Satrio Wibowo, Dewa Agung Gede Agung, R. <p><em>Education is a learning process that aims to develop individual potential optimally, including aspects of knowledge, skills, attitudes and moral values. The success of the educational process is greatly influenced by the availability of facilities and infrastructure, both in schools and universities. Facilities and infrastructure are the main components that support learning activities. The absence of these facilities can hinder the learning process, which ultimately affects student learning outcomes. This research aims to analyze the influence of facilities and infrastructure on student learning outcomes at SMK Negeri 1 Lotu. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects were 21 class XII students of the Department of Design, Modeling and Building Information (DPIB). Data was obtained through questionnaires for facilities and infrastructure variables, as well as documentation for learning outcome variables. The data analysis technique uses a simple linear regression formula. The research results show that there is a positive and significant influence between facilities and infrastructure on student learning outcomes. The simple regression equation obtained is Ŷ = 48.329 + 0.425X, meaning that every increase in one unit of facilities and infrastructure increases learning outcomes by 0.425 points. Hypothesis test (tcount = 2.744>ttable=2.074tcount = 2.744 > ttable = 2.074tcount=2.744>ttable=2.074) with a significant value of 0.013 (<0.05) indicating the alternative hypothesis is accepted. The contribution of facilities and infrastructure to student learning outcomes is 28.4%. In conclusion, facilities and infrastructure play an important role in student learning outcomes, but other factors such as teaching quality, motivation and learning environment also need to be considered to achieve optimal learning outcomes.</em></p>Lisda Gea, Envilwan Berkat Harefa

<p><em>This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy and self-control on the consumptive behavior of 10th and 11th grade Accounting and Finance students at SMK Negeri 6 Surakarta. High consumptive behavior among students can affect their personal financial management in the future. This study uses a quantitative method with a survey approach, where data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 141 students selected using the Slovin formula. The variables studied include financial literacy (X1), self-control (X2), and consumptive behavior (Y). The data collected were analyzed using multiple regression with the help of SPSS 22. The results of the study indicate that financial literacy positively influences consumptive behavior, meaning that the higher the students' financial literacy, the more likely they are to spend money consumptively. On the other hand, self-control negatively influences consumptive behavior, showing that students with better self-control tend to be more prudent in managing their expenditures. Regression tests show that both variables significantly affect students' consumptive behavior. This study concludes that good financial literacy can encourage consumptive behavior, but high self-control can reduce this tendency. The limitation of this study lies in its focus on only two variables, so it is recommended that future research include additional relevant variables to gain a more comprehensive understanding.</em></p>Dhania Ni’ma Ariria, Titik Ulfatun

https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/cetta/article/view/4065
<p>This study examines the challenges and adaptations encountered by pre-service English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. A qualitative case study approach was used to collect data from 89 final-year english education students at the state islamic university of north Sumatra who had completed teaching internships. The aim of the study was to explore the difficulties faced by these pre-service teachers in applying the new curriculum and the adaptation strategies they used to overcome them. The findings indicate that, although the pre-service teachers demonstrated a strong understanding of the curriculum's principles especially in integrating the Pancasila Student Profile into their teaching they faced significant challenges. These challenges included difficulties in designing lesson plans, implementing student-centered teaching methods, and conducting authentic assessments. Support from schools, including adequate facilities, guidance from senior teachers, and professional development, was crucial in helping them address these challenges. Additionally, adaptation strategies such as attending workshops, collaborating with peers, and independently seeking additional resources proved effective in enhancing their capacity to implement the curriculum. This study emphasizes the importance of ongoing collaboration among educational institutions, schools, and pre-service teachers. Continuous training, mentoring, and resource support are essential to ensure the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and better prepare future educators for curriculum innovations.</p>Latifah Hanum, Ahmad Amin Dalimunte

https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/cetta/article/view/4076
<p>This study explores EFL students' attitudes towards the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in writing English thesis proposals in higher education. The rapid advancement of AI technology has encouraged many university students to use AI-based tools to improve the quality of their academic writing. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study examined students' perceptions, experiences, and challenges. Data were collected through a questionnaire involving 35 English Education students at UIN Raden Intan Lampung as well as semi-structured interviews with 10 selected participants. The results showed that most students had a positive attitude towards AI due to its ability to improve writing efficiency, grammatical accuracy, and text organization. AI also helps in generating ideas, structuring arguments, and providing quick feedback, thus reducing anxiety in writing. However, there are concerns about over-reliance on AI that may stifle critical thinking and creativity. In addition, students were aware of the ethical challenges of using AI, especially regarding originality and the risk of plagiarism. Some students also customized AI results to better suit academic standards, which show that they did not fully rely on AI without re-evaluating. This study concludes that AI can be an effective support tool in thesis proposal writing if used wisely. Therefore, this study emphasizes the need for AI literacy in higher education to help students understand the limitations and ethical implications of its use. With the right approach, AI can be an effective support tool in developing students' academic abilities.</p>Hesti Winarti, M. Ridho Kholid, Zakiyah Zakiyah

https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/cetta/article/view/4091
<p>English proficiency is a crucial skill for maritime professionals, as effective communication plays a significant role in ensuring safety and operational efficiency. However, acquiring and retaining maritime-specific vocabulary remains a challenge for many cadets. This study investigates the effectiveness of verbal-plus-picture and verbal-only instructional methods in enhancing the immediate retention of maritime English vocabulary. Additionally, it examines whether gender and prior English course experience influence vocabulary retention outcomes. Employing an experimental post-test research design, this study involved 200 cadets from Politeknik Pelayaran Sulawesi Utara, who were randomly assigned into two groups. The experimental group received instruction through a combination of verbal and pictorial learning approaches, while the control group received verbal-only instruction. A post-test was administered immediately after the intervention to measure vocabulary retention. Independent samples t-tests were conducted to compare the mean scores between the two groups, and multiple linear regression analysis was applied to evaluate the impact of gender and prior English course experience on vocabulary retention. The results indicate that cadets who received verbal-plus-picture instruction demonstrated significantly higher vocabulary retention compared to those in the verbal-only group (p-Value < 0.001). The mean post-test score for the experimental group was 67.65, while the control group scored 56.45, confirming the effectiveness of multimodal learning in maritime English education. However, gender and prior English course experience were found to have no statistically significant impact on vocabulary retention (p-Value = 0.500 and p-Value = 0.258, respectively). These findings support the Dual Coding Theory (DCT), which posits that integrating verbal and visual stimuli enhances learning and recall. The study highlights the importance of incorporating multimodal instructional strategies into maritime English training programs to optimize vocabulary acquisition.</p>Jeihn Novita Christanty Budiman, Nindy Nource Ganap

https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/cetta/article/view/4052
<p>Intimate friendship can have a significant impact on a person's religious character, both positively and negatively, depending on the dynamics of the relationship. Therefore, this study aims to determine the development of students' religious character through intimate friendship. The method used is qualitative with 10 students in grade XI, namely 5 students of BRL 1 and 5 students of XI BRL 2, using a phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the observation show the development of students' religious character through intimate friendship, that close friendship and mutual trust between students can play a role in helping the development of their religious character. Friends who support each other in terms of religious values will help shape students' personalities to be better in terms of religion. The results of the study show that the development of students' religious character through intimate friendship at SMKN 2 Palangka Raya can be encouraged through intimate friendship. In the school environment, close friendship between students not only strengthens social ties, but also influences the formation of religious character. In addition, through close friendships, students feel more comfortable and confident in expressing their feelings, be it happiness, anxiety, or challenges faced in everyday life. In this supportive environment, they can more freely discuss various issues, including moral dilemmas, religious understanding, or even challenges in practicing Islamic values in real life. Through open discussions and sharing experiences, students not only gain new perspectives, but also feel supported in their spiritual journey. For example, when a student has difficulty maintaining consistency in worship, his close friends can provide motivation or reminders in a more personal and empathetic way.</p>Laila Husniah, Hamdanah Hamdanah, Surawan Surawan

<p><em>This study analyzes the influence of academic supervision of school principals on the pedagogic competence of teachers at SDN Margadana Tegal</em><em>. Pedagogic competence is focused on the teacher's ability to design, implement, assess, and evaluate learning. The background of the research is based on the low pedagogic competence of teachers identified through initial observation. Teachers still experience obstacles in the preparation of learning tools, the implementation of learning is not as planned, and has limitations in classroom management and the use of teaching aids. The 2024 Teacher Performance Assessment (PKG) shows pedagogic competence as the lowest competence. Education Report Data supports these findings with a decrease in achievement from the "Good" category to "Adequate" in 2024. This condition states that teachers' pedagogic competence must be improved, one of which is through academic supervision. The approach used is quantitative correlational design which involved 205 teachers, and a randomly selected sample of 134 teachers. Descriptive data analysis, correlation coefficient, determination coefficient, and regression analysis to collect data, which were distributed through questionnaires. Test prerequisites such as normality, linearity, and multicollinearity. The findings of the study stated that the academic supervision of the principal affects pedagogic abilities. This is indicated by the f-value of 392.717 > f table 3.91, the Sig value of 0.000 < 0.05, the contribution of 74.8% for the medium category. The correlation between the academic supervision of the principal and the pedagogic competence of the teacher is 0.865 in the very strong category. These results indicate that there is a very significant relationship between the academic supervision of the principal and the pedagogic competence of the teacher. For the value of the constant coefficient is 24.215, the coefficient of the academic supervision variable is 0.876.
