However, over time, the quality and quantity of water in Bali have degraded, including in the villages of Medahan and Keramas in Blahbatuh Subdistrict, Gianyar Regency. This research aims to rediscover the values of deep ecology ethics in the efforts to preserve the water sources in these two villages to ensure that the water sources remain sustainable and can be passed down to future generations. This research uses observation, interviews and documentation studies to collect data, as well as qualitative descriptive methods to present research results. Based on research results, it was found that Medahan and Keramas villages have numerous water sources that are socially and spiritually significant. The community preserves them through the construction of sacred sites, the instilling of beliefs about the importance of water sources, the installation of warning signs, and communal efforts to clean the water sources. These water conservation actions, practiced and passed down by the community, are closely linked to the principles of deep ecology ethics, which urge humans to respect nature and recognize the rights of nature as equal to human rights. This ethic asserts that all living beings possess intrinsic value and are deserving of moral consideration. The implementation of deep ecology ethics emphasizes love and reverence for nature, akin to love for God. This research shows that the preservation of water sources in Medahan and Keramas is not only an ecological action but also a spiritual expression that reflects harmony between humans, nature, and God.
Ayu Veronika Somawati Copyright (c) 2025 Ayu Veronika Somawati https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/3599 Wed, 07 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Analisis Pementasan Tari Leko Pada Upacara Dewa Yadnya Di Banjar Tangkup, Desa Kedisan, Kecamatan Tegallalang, Kabupaten Gianyar https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/3678
The performance of the Leko Dance at the Dewa Yadnya ceremony in Banjar Tangkup, Kedisan Village, Tegallalang District, Gianyar Regency, has a uniqueness in terms of its performance and its existence is quite rare. This makes the Leko Dance important to study. In this study, the problems to be discussed are focused on two things, namely the reasons for performing the Leko Dance at the Dewa Yajnā ceremony in Banjar Tangkup and the form of the Leko Dance performance. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection was carried out using observation techniques, in-depth interview techniques, and document study techniques. The technique used to analyze the data is verstehen. The results of the study show that the performance of the Leko Dance is based on the religious encouragement of the community which is based on sincere feelings called ngayah. Mythologically, the performance of the Leko Dance is believed by the Banjar Tangkup community to be a duwe sesuunan at Pura Puseh. The variety of movements and the structure of the presentation of the Leko Dance in Banjar Tangkup are very simple, delivered with soft, flexible and supple movements, consisting of the panglembar and pengipuk parts. The rapid growth of the tourism sector in Bali threatens the preservation of local culture and spirituality. This research aims to identify the role of Hindu Religious Education in integrating spiritual and cultural values in tourism management while maintaining a balance between economic aspects and cultural preservation. Through qualitative methods with case studies, data was obtained from in-depth interviews with various related parties. The results of the study show that Hindu Religious Education plays an important role in maintaining and spreading Balinese cultural and spiritual values in the tourism sector. This integration also helps protect sacred places and religious practices from the negative impacts of tourism. However, the main challenge faced is the commercialization of tourism which can come at the expense of the preservation of cultural identity. Thus, tourism management that combines Hindu religious values and local wisdom offers a sustainable model and respects culture. It is important to find a balance between economic development and the preservation of Hindu cultural identity and spirituality in Bali in the long term.
Nyoman Gede Mas Wiartha, Anak Agung Istri M. Hindu philosophy, particularly the concept of Tri Guna, offers a relevant framework to address these challenges. This research aims to thoroughly analyze the relevance and potential application of the Tri Guna values (Sattwa, Rajas, Tamas) as a philosophical foundation for strengthening Hindu character education in the midst of modernization. The research method employed is library research with a qualitative approach, analyzing various primary and secondary literature sources descriptively and interpretatively. Research findings indicate that Tri Guna effectively maps the dynamics of basic human nature and provides guidance for character development. A balanced management of Sattwa (goodness/purity), Rajas (activity/passion), and Tamas (darkness/inertia) is identified as key to building integrity, moral resilience, and individual adaptability in facing the complexities of modern life. It is concluded that the Tri Guna concept holds strong relevance and strategic value as a basis for strengthening character education in the modern era, contributing to the formation of a generation with superior, balanced character capable of making positive contributions to society.
Gusti Ngurah Ketut Putera, Handoko Handoko, I Gusti Agung Dharmawan, I Nyoman Lingga Sana; I Wayan Agus Gunada Copyright (c) 2025 Gusti Ngurah Ketut Putera, Handoko Handoko, I Gusti Agung Dharmawan, I Nyoman Lingga Sana; I Wayan Agus Gunada https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4226 Wed, 07 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Internalization of Religious Moderation Values in Learning Strategies Within Pasraman Non-Formal Education in Mataram https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4115
Indonesia, with its religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity, faces great challenges in maintaining harmony between religious communities. Pasraman, as a non-formal educational institution that teaches Hinduism, has an important role in instilling the values of religious moderation in the younger generation. This study aims to analyse the learning strategy of religious moderation in pasraman, Mataram City, and the impact of internalising these values on sisyas. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation studies in several active pasramans in Mataram. The study results show that pasraman implements five main learning strategies system-oriented, expositive, cooperative, contextual, and affective. This strategy focuses on teaching the values of tolerance, respect for differences, and social harmony. Despite challenges such as a limited understanding of Acarya and limited facilities, the study's results revealed that the value of religious moderation has succeeded in shaping the character of sisya, who are more open, tolerant, and ready to contribute to a multicultural society. This study aims to explore and describe how Lake Toba can be strengthened as a space for interfaith and intercultural dialogue, and to analyze how the HKBP Church, as the majority Christian community in the region, can develop a contextual theology of tourism and religious moderation. A qualitative research method was employed, using a historical-critical and contextual hermeneutical approach to Psalm 19:2–5. This was complemented by in-depth interviews with informants representing subjective readers and interpretive communities. The theoretical framework is based on Stephen Bevans’ contextual theology, particularly his three models: translation, anthropological, and praxis. The findings indicate that: (1) nature, as viewed through the lens of the Psalm, is not merely an aesthetic backdrop but a divine revelation that invites spiritual encounter; and (2) spiritual tourism can serve as a means of social transformation, creating space for religious tolerance and moderation that strengthens social cohesion. In conclusion, religion should play an active role in tourism development, particularly by: (1) establishing nature-based liturgical programs and ecological spiritual education within the church; and (2) positioning itself as a cultural and environmental steward by promoting sustainable spiritual tourism in which spirituality, nature conservation, and respect for local traditions are harmoniously integrated.
Sukanto Limbong, Gunawan Yuli Agung Suprabowo, Daniel Razsekar Panjaitan Copyright (c) 2025 Sukanto Limbong, Gunawan Yuli Agung Suprabowo, Daniel Razsekar Panjaitan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4258 Thu, 08 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Esensi Ajaran Bhujangga dalam Tradisi Ritual Masyarakat Batur https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4223
Batur is seen as one the centers of Balinese civilization, which a strategic position in the spread of Hinduism in Bali. The manuscript contains discourse mechanisms, metaphorical language, and distinctive constructions of meaning. Textually, the geguritan illustrates Kebo Taruna’s role in de-hegemonizing the dominance of the Majapahit Kingdom over the Balinese Kingdom. This study aims to identify the emancipatory dimensions of the Kebo Taruna character in selected stanzas of the Geguritan Kebo Tarunāntaka, to analyze his representation as a symbol of resistance against Majapahit’s hegemonic power, and to reinterpret the geguritan as a medium of decolonial discourse. The approach employed combines Norman Fairclough’s model of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) with speech act theory. The findings indicate that Kebo Taruna is represented as a symbolic agent who articulates resistance to the coloniality of power and constructs a sovereign and autonomous Balinese identity. The gegugitan reveals emancipatory dimensions through its rejection of hegemonic narratives, glorification of sovereignty, and transformation of language into a decolonial instrument. A qualitative ethnopedagogical method with an ethnographic design was employed through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis (lontar manuscripts, curricula) of 16 attire components, involving Sulinggih priests, literary experts, and youth. The results reveal three key findings: (1) the semiotic system of Sulinggihattire represents spiritual hierarchy, cosmic balance, and self-transformation; (2) a value shift from philosophical simplicity to aesthetic extravagance occurs, driven by commercialization and meaning reduction in digital media; (3) integrative educational strategies—textual-practical curriculum, philosophical training for Sulinggih, and technology integration (AR/VR)—prove effective in enhancing youth understanding. Practically, a curriculum model based on Tri Hita Karana (Balinese philosophy of harmony) and collaborative workshops with traditional artisans (undagi) are recommended to restore the attire’s sacred meaning while maintaining relevance in the digital era. The implications emphasize balancing traditional value preservation and methodological adaptation in religious art education.
I Kadek Abdhi Yasa Copyright (c) 2025 I Kadek Abdhi Yasa https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4389 Thu, 03 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Dharmaning Brahmana dalam Geguritan Yadnya Ring Kuruksetra https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4413
This research is motivated by the lack of studies on the transfer of the Aswamedha Parwa text into Geguritan Yadnya Ring Kuruksetra (GYRK), especially from the perspective of brahmana ethics, amidst the rampant transformation of Balinese literature that often ignores the moral dimension. The purpose of the research is to analyze the representation of brahmana dharma and the concept of lascarya (sincerity) in GYRK, and to revitalize the philosophical values of Balinese Hinduism through a hermeneutic approach. The method used is textual hermeneutic analysis from the perspective of Hindu literature and philosophy. Primary data are taken from the GYRK and Aswamedha Parwa texts, while secondary data include brahmana ethics literature such as Sarasamuscaya and Agastya Parwa. The results of the study show that Tri Kaya Parisudha (thoughts, speech, deeds) and lascarya are actualized through the actions of four brahmanas who face moral dilemmas, such as food sacrifices in conditions of famine. The transformation of yadnya from a horse sacrifice ritual to a social sacrifice reflects the adaptation of Balinese Hindu ethical values to the challenges of modernization, such as individualism and poverty. Conflicts between characters in the text are resolved through spiritual integrity, such as sewaka dharma (sincere devotion) that goes beyond formal obedience. The conclusion of the study confirms that GYRK not only revitalizes traditional philosophical values, but also becomes a medium for intergenerational ethical dialogue, bridging local wisdom with modern demands through the holistic actualization of dharma. This study contributes to the study of religious literature with a hermeneutic analysis model that integrates text, context, and philosophy, while also offering an adaptive ethical paradigm in responding to global moral degradation.
I Wayan Juliana Copyright (c) 2025 I Wayan Juliana https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4413 Thu, 03 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Transformasi Nilai-Nilai Luhur Dalam Lontar Dharma Śāsana Sebagai Fondasi Pendidikan Sasana Hindu Di Era Modern https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4432
The background of this study stems from the gap between the rich spiritual and moral values found in the Lontar Dharma Śāsana a treasured body of Balinese Hindu literature and its pedagogical implementation in contemporary formal education, where the text is often limited to ritualistic studies without transformative integration into character formation. The aim of this research is to analyze the transformation of the noble values of Dharma Śāsana into the pedagogical foundation for Hindu sasana (character) education in the modern era, through the identification of values, evaluation of their relevance, and the design of a contextual curriculum. This study employs a qualitative library research method with a philosophical hermeneutic approach, facilitating a fusion of horizons between historical textual meanings and modern educational contexts. It also accommodates the transcendent, universal, and applicable dimensions of Hindu teachings through an analysis of six key pupuh (Mijil, Pucung, Dandang, Dandang Gula, Kumambang, Pangkur). The findings reveal: (1) the identification of 28 core values categorized into spiritual, social, and moral dimensions; (2) a three-phase integrated curriculum design that synergizes Dharma Śāsana values with the Pancasila Student Profile through project-based learning; (3) an authentic assessment model based on an adapted Bloom's taxonomy of spiritual-social competencies; and (4) implementation strategies such as restorative justice rooted in Asta Pangredanan and contemplative pedagogy. The conclusion asserts that this transformative model effectively bridges the gap between text and practice, while also offering a character education framework grounded in local wisdom that is responsive to the challenges of the digital era. The scientific contribution of this research lies in the development of the first integrative pedagogical model that converts the hermeneutics of traditional Hindu texts into an operational framework for the Merdeka Curriculum, enriching the discourse on locality-based character education within a global perspective.
I Nyoman Ariyoga Copyright (c) 2025 I Nyoman Ariyoga https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4432 Thu, 03 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Strategi Pembelajaran Hybrid (Luring-Daring) Mata Pelajaran Agama Hindu di SMA Dwijendra Denpasar Pada Era Pasca-Pandemi https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4548
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the transformation of global education, including Hindu religious instruction, which emphasizes spiritual values and traditional practices. This shift demands adaptive learning strategies that preserve the essence of religious teachings while remaining responsive to technological advancements. This study aims to analyze the hybrid learning strategy (offline-online) implemented in Hindu religious education at SMA Dwijendra Denpasar, assess its challenges and opportunities, and evaluate the effectiveness of the applied model. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, using data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the developed model successfully integrates cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions through interactive approaches such as virtual pilgrimages, gamification, and digital journaling. In addition to increasing students’ motivation and participation, this strategy redefines the teacher’s role into that of a spiritually grounded facilitator utilizing technology. Nevertheless, several challenges persist, including digital access inequality, limitations in translating sacred experiences into digital formats, and the complexity of managing multimodal instruction. Even so, innovations such as the Virtual Pura and digital peer mentoring systems have helped overcome some of these barriers. The study concludes that a value-based and contextually grounded hybrid learning strategy can foster authentic, adaptive, and transformative religious learning experiences in the post-pandemic era.
Gede Agus Jaya Negara Copyright (c) 2025 Gede Agus Jaya Negara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4548 Thu, 03 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Estetika Dalam Tradisi Sakral https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4407
Art in Balinese Hindu society functions not merely as an aesthetic expression, but as an integral component of ritual practices that reflect cosmological and spiritual values. Gulingan Village in Badung serves as a significant locus for the preservation and transformation of sacred art, yet philosophical studies that position art as a medium of spiritual transcendence within Hindu aesthetics remain limited, particularly within customary communities. This study aims to explore in depth the roles and meanings of art in the religious practices of the Gulingan community, emphasizing the symbolic, spiritual, and social dimensions embedded in sacred artistic expressions. The research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of artistic practices. The findings reveal that art in Gulingan is perceived as an act of devotion and a medium for uniting humans, nature, and the divine, as embodied in the Hindu aesthetic principles of Satyam, Śivam, and Sundaram. Art serves a symbolic and pedagogical function as a sacred language that reinforces spiritual awareness and cultural identity. Community participation in transmitting these artistic traditions also fosters a space for dialogue between tradition and modernity. In conclusion, art in Gulingan is not merely an aesthetic expression but a cosmological and transformative medium that binds spiritual, social, and ecological relationships into a unified value system. Art plays an active role in fostering social cohesion, maintaining spiritual continuity, and articulating the values of Tri Hita Karana in the daily lives of Gulingan communities. This study contributes to the development of Hindu aesthetic discourse by highlighting how sacred art functions as a living philosophical praxis within a local community context, thereby enriching the field of community-based sacred art studies.
I Putu Ariyasa Darmawan Copyright (c) 2025 I Putu Ariyasa Darmawan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4407 Thu, 03 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Pengaruh Hatha Yoga Terhadap Perilaku Bullying Pada Siswa Kelas III SD No. 2 Sibanggede https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/3641
Bullying occurred among third-grade students at SD No. 2 Sibanggede. This research analyzes the representation of Hindu cultural identity through these two practices and their interaction with cultural tourism dynamics. A qualitative-ethnographic method was applied with case studies in Ubud and Penglipuran villages, involving participant observation, in-depth interviews with 15 informants, and analysis of lontar manuscripts. The results show that 72% of restaurants and Usadha clinics in tourist areas ignore sacred rituals and dana punia principles, replacing them with profit-oriented business models. This commodification transforms spiritual essence into exotic consumption products, risking the disruption of authentic value transmission to younger generations. However, the Penglipuran community has developed cultural resilience strategies through ritual integration in participatory homestays and hybrid Usadha models that combine dana punia with commercial rates. The research affirms that the preservation of Balinese Hindu cultural identity depends on creative adaptation that maintains harmony between spirituality, ecology, and economy. Theoretically, this research contributes to cultural tourism theory by presenting the concept of adaptive cultural resilience and enriching Hindu cultural resilience studies by proving that ritual flexibility based on Tri Hita Karana is more effective than traditional rigidity. This phenomenon underscores the need for an approach capable of addressing the complexities of a multi-religious society. This study aims to analyze the contributions of perennialism and religious moderation as strategic pillars in fostering harmony amidst religious intolerance, while also contributing to the fields of religious studies and social-religious policy in Indonesia. The study adopts a qualitative literature review methodology, utilizing thematic analysis of relevant literature. The thematic analysis is carried out by identifying the key themes in the literature on perennialism, religious moderation, and interfaith harmony, and examining how these concepts are applied in the Indonesian context. The findings indicate that perennialism provides a philosophical foundation through the recognition of universal spiritual values shared across religions, while religious moderation promotes inclusive and tolerant attitudes in religious practices. Together, these concepts serve as strategic pillars in strengthening interfaith dialogue, fostering solidarity, and enhancing cross-cultural understanding. Additionally, religious moderation emphasizes the importance of Pancasila values as the foundation of national unity. In conclusion, the integration of perennialism and religious moderation offers not only theoretical insights but also practical solutions to mitigate religious conflict and build sustainable harmony in Indonesia's multicultural society. This study introduces a novel approach by integrating perennialism and religious moderation, offering a more holistic and contextually relevant framework for Indonesia’s socio-religious landscape, an area not extensively addressed in prior research.
Zulkarnain Zulkarnain, Yosefo Gule Copyright (c) 2025 Zulkarnain Zulkarnain, Yosefo Gule https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jayapanguspress.penerbit.org/index.php/JPAH/article/view/4517 Fri, 04 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000
